Christmas Motif Lights

In one line: a motif light is a recognisable shape lit from inside, so it works as the focal point of a display instead of general area lighting.

This is the collection for a front window, a porch wall or a mantel: a Santa on a glowing ladder, reindeer fairies, star-topped tree arrangements, a copper birch tree, a snowglobe pendant and marquee tabletop signs.

Placing a motif

• Flat surface first. Motifs hang or stand best against a plain wall, door or window — busy backgrounds swallow the shape.
• Distance. Read from the street, the shape needs to be at least 50 cm across; read up close, smaller pieces work on a shelf.
• Power. USB and battery versions free you from a socket; check the lead reach for mains versions.
