Choose your setup

Two ways to power it: plug it into any USB port with the supplied lead, or run it from the battery box when there is no outlet nearby. The remote option adds power, timer and lighting-mode control from across the room. The waterproof battery version is the one to pick for a porch or garden wall that may catch rain.

Styling ideas

Stretch it across a front door, hang it in a hallway window, fix it to a bare wall for a party backdrop, or drape it over a hedge at the edge of a path. Pair it with a carved pumpkin for a finished Halloween entrance.

Setting up

3. Switch on and set the mode. Power on, then use the switch or remote to pick the mode and timer.

Keep plugs, adapters and battery boxes out of standing water and away from damp sockets; the light strings themselves are weatherproof for outdoor use in the listed specification. Unplug or switch off before moving or cleaning, and check the cable for damage at the start of each season. Keep out of reach of children under three.
